Limonate
“Limonate” is a self-initiated project designed to bring a touch of summer into the Berlin winter. The scarf celebrates those first rays of sunshine after the city’s long, grey season. It is inspired by northern Italian lemon groves and drinks like Limoncello and Aperol Spritz, which signal the start of spring even on Berlin’s streets. Unlike my earlier football scarf, which was neutral and understated, “Limonate” embraces vivid colors and a flowing, handwritten-inspired typeface reminiscent of Italian signage. Yellow for lemons, green for the leaves, and blue for the sky. It conceived as a unisex accessory to spark anticipation for brighter days.
As with the FUSSBALL scarf, the design was created in Illustrator and prepared for knit production. A limited run of 30 pieces was produced and sold over instagram.
A memorable moment: Two people who had bought the scarf and didn’t know each other. Then they ran into each other on the street, both wearing it. In this case the scarf initiated a little conversation starter. That’s exactly what this project was meant to do: bring a little warmth and connection to the city.
